On the Close
Today, in our Lenten season of self-examination, the leadership of the Cathedral and schools which comprise the Cathedral Foundation have announced a joint exploration of any instances of sexual misconduct which might be in their past. They take pains to point out that this investigation is not in response to any particular allegation and that they nevertheless believe this the right thing to do.
I have great admiration for the leaders on the close for undertaking a hard look at the histories of their respective institutions in this season and have asked that should they come across any involvement of our parish, that I be informed as soon as possible.
You can read the joint letter from leaders with details of the investigation here. In addition you can read Dean Hollerith’s letter to the Cathedral community here and Bishop Budde’s letter to the Diocese here.
Please take a moment before closing this email and offer prayer for all victims of sexual abuse and for our sister institutions on the close as they seek to discover whether there be any such abuse in their own past and that they will respond appropriately.
