Welcome to our News Blog! Here, you’ll find the latest news we have to share about our parish this week. If you wish to receive our weekly newsletter, “This Week at St. Alban’s,” every Friday, please email office@stalbansdc.org, and we’ll add you to our mailing list. Now, ahead with the news:

Summer Schedule at St. Alban’s: We invite you to join us for worship following our Summer schedule: 8:00 a.m. – Rite I Holy Eucharist (English) in the Church; 10:00 a.m. – Rite II Holy Eucharist (English) in the Church and Children’s Chapel in Nourse Hall.  Nursery care available from 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. on the Upper Level of Satterlee Hall, and 11:15 a.m. – La Santa Misa (Spanish) in Nourse Hall.

Nursery Available Starting at 7:45 a.m. During our Summer Schedule: until Labor Day Weekend, whether you plan to attend the 8 a.m. Rite I English service, or want a little quiet time before the 10 a.m. service, our Nursery is here for you! Care is available for early risers up to 3 years old, starting at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. every Sunday. For more information, please reach out to Rev. Mark.

St. Alban’s Food Pantry.  We’re open every Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Whether you can serve once a week, once a month, or just once this summer, there’s a place for every St. Albanite between the ages of 5 and 105. Volunteer roles range from set-up and clean-up (a bit of heavy lifting) to welcoming shoppers and helping them navigate our tables (no lifting required). The only qualification? A heart open to serving others in the name of Christ. We laid out all the details—including the inspiration behind this ministry— in this article. To put yourself down for a shift between July and the end of August, just SIGN UP HERE, pick your shifts, and show up. We’ll cover everything you need to know during each orientation. Come and feed Him through feeding His people.

Church Membership Review and Update:St. Alban’s is preparing a new printed parish directory—our first since 2013! To ensure our records are accurate and secure your consent to be included, we are conducting a total membership review. We ask all members and regular worshippers to fill out an update form (including details for children under 18 within your family unit).
– Online: Fill out the form at Google Forms via this link.
– In Person: Stop by our parish office during regular hours (Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) to pick up a printed copy or to get assistance with the process.
Please let us have your completed form, paper or electronic, by June 13 to enable us to make progress on the printed directory production. Questions? Contact Ellie at ellieb@stalbansdc.org or 202-363-8286 x 209. Thank you for helping us update our records!

Pastoral Care & Hospital Visits. Life can bring unexpected challenges — illness, hospitalization, or simply a moment when you need someone to walk alongside you. Our clergy want to be there for you. If you or a loved one is in the hospital, recovering at home, or going through a difficult season, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We consider it a privilege to pray with you, sit with you, and support you in whatever you are facing. Please contact our clergy at clergy@stalbansdc.org or call the church office at 202-363-8286, option 8. If you know of a parishioner who is ill or hospitalized, please help us reach them — sometimes people in need hesitate to ask, and we never want anyone to feel forgotten.

EDOW’s EMBRACE Program Presentation On July 26. The Global Missions Committee will be hosting a presentation on 26 July from the Episcopal Diocese of Washington on their migrant support program “EMBRACE (Episcopal Migrant Belonging, Resistance and Action Coalition).” There will be two iterations of the presentation on the 26th: one in English following the 10 AM service and another in Spanish following the 11:15 service; both will be located in Satterlee Hall. Please come and learn more with us about how we can support our neighbors!

Opportunity Shop News. The shop will close for its summer break on July 18 at noon and will reopen on Wednesday September 9. We will stop accepting donations of clothes after July 3 and we will be accepting no donations in our final week (July 15, 16, 17 and 18). For further information, please contact our Opportunity Shop staff at opshop@stalbansdc.org or 202-966-5288. We look forward to seeing you soon and, as always, sincerely appreciate your continued support of this ministry.

Please Consider Joining St. Alban’s Altar Guild: Yes, we’d love your help! Our members assist with one service just once a month, helping for about 20 minutes before, after, or both. It’s simple and flexible: you choose the service and the week of the month that works best for you. If your plans change, you can easily swap with another volunteer. You’ll always serve as part of a team — never alone. For those with busy lives or unpredictable schedules who still want to contribute their time and talents, this ministry is a wonderful and flexible way to get involved. Why volunteer? No public speaking — ever!; A great way for newcomers to meet fellow parishioners and feel part of the community; A meaningful service opportunity for couples and teens. A special note to members of the 11:15 congregation: We especially need volunteers to help tidy up after the 11:15 service. It takes just 20 minutes once a month, and it makes a big difference. For more information, please speak with Michele Bond at 202-660-2676 or email michelebond@gmail.com.

Children’s Ministry Fundraiser – St. Alban’s Tote Bags! We gave these tote bags to our Children and Youth Volunteers to express our gratitude for their faithful work with the young people of St. Alban’s. But we liked them so much that we decided to make them available to the wider congregation as well. Proceeds from the sale of these tote bags will go directly to the St. Alban’s Children’s Ministry. Supplies are limited, so order yours while you can! To place an order, please click here. Collect your tote bag from Rev. Mark during Coffee Hour on Sundays, or contact him to arrange another time.

Noonday Quiet Prayer in St. John’s Chapel: Join us for a short time of silent prayer every Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel, located in the church sanctuary.

Join Us From Wherever You Are! This Summer, we are live streaming our 10 a.m. Rite II English Service, and our 11:15 a.m. Spanish Service. Subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking here and activating notifications.
