Did you know that one in six Americans will experience food poisoning this year, and approximately 3,000 people will die from foodborne illnesses? Young children and older adults are especially vulnerable. To help protect our parish community and everyone we serve through our ministries, St. Alban’s is offering free ServSafe® Food Protection Handler Training & Certification through a grant available through September. ServSafe®, developed by the U.S. National Restaurant Association, is the nation’s leading food safety training and certification program. The course covers the causes of foodborne illness and teaches practical steps to prevent it—both in your own kitchen and in our parish ministries. The training consists of one five-hour class (10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). Choose one of the following dates:
- Wednesday, August 26
- Friday, August 28
- Wednesday, September 2
- Thursday, September 3
Parishioners who have already completed the training describe it as “excellent,” “very worthwhile,” and say they learned valuable food safety practices they will use both at St. Alban’s and at home. Please sign up in the Narthex or contact Melanie Davis at mdavisconcepts@aol.com or (202) 412-2424 with your first and second choice of training dates.
