Forums: Climate Change
This two-part Sunday forum series explored climate change from a Christian perspective.
Climate change is not just an environmental or scientific problem, it's a profoundly moral and ethical issue as well. Our forum series in September looked at the issue of climate justice.
Sunday, September 10--Climate Justice
What are the the racial, social and economic aspects of climate change? Who is most affected and who is responsible? Marcus King, who teaches about environmental security at George Washington University and a member of St. Alban's, led the discussion.
Marcus recommended reading Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato Si, "On care for our common home."
Sunday, September 24--Faith-Based Responses
Ezekiel 34:18 puts it bluntly: "Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture?" says the Lord God. "Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?" Marcus King, associate professor at George Washington University and a member of St. Alban's, argues that the church may be the best-placed institution to respond to climate change.
