Joy and sadness
St. Alban’s was the place to be last Sunday. Thank you Sonya and thank you DaPonte Quartet for a moving communion service with Mozart’s Missa Brevis as the mass setting. I found myself marveling at being part of it. It was similar to a few times in my working career, when in the midst of something of some import, the thought would come to me, “How has it happened that I get to do this.” But my joy at being there, at helping make it happen, was tempered by a sadness on reflecting on those near and dear to me for whom church has not become become part of their lives. That they find any other activity more attractive than the sublime beauty and profound meaning of Anglican liturgy is a disappointment, even though I know that the percentage of people who will ever relate to Anglican liturgy is very small.
Thank you Sonya and thank you DaPonte Quartet.
