Mustard Seed: Famine in South Sudan
Our Mustard Seed collection on Sunday, March 19, will go to help people at risk of starvation in South Sudan. The UN declared a few weeks ago that the area is experiencing famine. Some 100,000 people are directly affected and one million more are on the brink. Famine is rare, declared only after 20% of households in an area face extreme food shortages; acute malnutrition rates exceed 30%; and the death rate exceeds two people per day per 10,000 persons. ERD, as part of the Anglican Alliance, is attempting to step up its aid effort in South Sudan and our gifts will help. Please be generous. For more information, contact Sandy Kolb.
